I would like to emphasize two things about Peccei: That he was a highly able and successful business leader, and that he was held captive and tortured by Gestapo in 1944 for about half a year without giving out the names of his comrades. Later in his autobiography (which, significantly, is called "The Human Quality") Peccei wrote that he was grateful for this latter experience because it formed him. My conclusion is that it takes some vision and some integrity to be able to look into the face of what Peccei called 'the human predicament'. May we be worthy enough to follow his example!
